Workshop purpose

To enhance your competence and confidence in interacting with others at work
In a way that is consistent with your personal values and principles
In order to reduce frustration, increase impact of technical know-how, and be increasingly valued by the organization.

Workshop topics

Piloting Your Career, Social Style, Managing Your Boss, Coaching and Mentoring Colleagues, Negotiation, 360 degree Feedback, Setting Priorities.

Target audience

Experienced technical employees. (If you are a supervisor, manager, or team lead, please consider attending the parallel workshop called Pretty Good People Skills for Supervisors, Managers, and Team Leads.)

Duration of workshop

Five days spread over two sessions. Between sessions, participants implement ideas learned in the workshop and report on their experiences in the subsequent session.

360° Feedback

A special feature of this course, the 360° feedback instrument, will provide critical information to participants about how they are viewed by others. People familiar with the course participant (e.g., peers, direct reports, manager, and others) complete the questionnaire on-line at a secure website. Results are confidential and personally delivered to participants during the workshop.

During the Course

Based on the premise that adults learn best by doing, workshop participants practice critical skills and receive constructive feedback from other members of the group after each practice session. This process not only augments the learning experience, it also increases participants' ability to effectively give and receive feedback. The 360° feedback itself boosts participants' "readiness to learn" during the workshop, as they become more aware of what is needed for them to improve.

High ratings

The class routinely receives extraordinarily high evaluations with the majority rating the course and the instructor a 5 on a 5-point scale. 100% of past participants state that they recommend this workshop for their colleagues.
